Key Stage 3 |
PSHE is a cornerstone of our whole school curriculum. It encompasses the knowledge, skills and attributes that are essential for our students to become contributing members of society. It gives students the insight into issues in the wider world as well as helping them establish their own moral compass. We aim to develop and embed the understanding, knowledge and skills students require to be happy and successful in their lives now and in the future. Throughout our lessons, students are encouraged to question their views on themselves and the world around them in a safe and open environment; to listen to and respect other people’s views; to think of others in the community and the wider world; to learn key financial skills; and to learn how to care for their own physical, emotional and mental health as well as that of others. Students at Hadleigh follow 6 main strands of big questions throughout their schooling, continually being referred to and built upon every year. Each area forms a vital component in our pursuit to prepare our students for life.
Our big questions are:

Key Stage 4 |
As part of the PSHE curriculum in Key Stage 4, students are taught the basics of first aid and resuscitation. All students also have access to gaining an additional recognised qualification in Finance through the London Institute of Banking and Finance, which can lead to an equivalent GCSE in that area.
Key Stage 4 sees a large focus on preparing students for their future. Students in Year 10 gain valuable work experience and prepare and reflect on this during PSHE lessons. In Year 11, students have mock interviews with external employers and use their time in PSHE to write CV’s and personal statements, prepare for interviews and make post 16 applications under the guidance of their teachers.
