Consultation Evenings

Pupils’ reports and consultation evenings play an important part in making sure you are kept up-to-date with your child’s progress. Consultation evenings are a chance for you to discuss how well your child is achieving and to focus on areas for improvement and to discuss how best to work together to support your child’s achievement in school.

We hold an annual consultation evening for each year group and we expect all students to attend their evening, accompanied by a parent or carer.

Your child’s latest school report should help you to identify issues you want to discuss. It will contain information on your child’s progress and levels of achievement in the subjects they are studying, together with details of their attendance, behaviour and - where appropriate - additional/educational needs.

The dates of our consultation evenings for 2018-19 are published below.

Tips for Consultation Evenings

  • Read your child’s progress report and relevant progress information before going to school;
  • If possible, look at some of your child’s work beforehand;
  • If the teacher says anything you don’t understand, do not be afraid to ask what they mean;
  • Try to come away with some positive steps for your child to help your child succeed;
  • If there are any points of conflict, try to talk about them with teachers and find a solution that is in the best interests of your child;
  • Make a few notes of the meeting if it will help you remember what was said and what was agreed.
  • If you need longer than your allocated time please make a further appointment.
